The Transition from Central Middle School to Itliong-Chavez Middle School:
Central Middle School was named after California's Central Valley, To honor the Central Valley's rich history and rich culture. We decided that its time for a Name Change. Our school is being renamed to Itliong-Chavez Middle School to honor Larry Itliong and Cesar Chavez to honor there hard work together and the strikes that they did together. They had a strike called the Delano Grape Strikes, which took place in the Central Valley. The Filipino Farm Workers & Mexican Farm Workers joined together during the Delano Grape Strike, this is where they created the United Farm Workers, Which also took place in the 1960s. Today, We honor Larry Itliong and Cesar Chavez, and are proud to celebrate what they have done to United States History.

ReplyDeleteCongratulations! We are very elated that we finally have a US school recognizing our game-changers in US Civil Rights history. I would like to indicate though that I am honored that you selected a graphic art that I designed be included in your website. The art I am referring to is the one with the lengthy Larry Itliong quote with a mustard yellow background. I never received a request for my work to be reproduced nor do I see any credit recognizing the work done by the art`s creator. I would appreciate a prompt reply and appropriate recognition or citation for the ART.
